We are pleased to present the results of research conducted by the Building Research Institute in Warsaw for the Polish Association of Polystyrene Producers (PSPS), of which we are a member. The research and the resulting statements confirm that EPS polystyrene boards manufactured by Styrmann meet the PN-EN ISO 14021:2016 standard : – reduce CO2 emissions and energy demand in buildings, – are safe for health in terms of PM 2.5 dust emissions during installation, – are safe for health in terms of PM 10 dust emissions during installation, – are safe for health in terms of volatile compounds emissions during use of the insulated building, – do not emit formaldehyde, – are recyclable. The project also included data analysis and product evaluation within the scope required by the PN-EN15804+A1 standard for developing a Type III Environmental Product Declaration (EPD ) covering: – sustainability of construction works, – environmental product declarations, – basic principles of categorizing construction products. The research resulted in the EPS boards of PSPS members obtaining a Type III Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) and a Type II Environmental Product Declaration, as well as environmental claims bearing the ITB EKO “Friendly Product” mark. As a manufacturer of expanded polystyrene, Styrmann places great importance on environmental protection, health, and safety. Obtaining a Type II and III Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) confirms that expanded polystyrene is a safe, environmentally friendly, and effective insulation for construction.
